What began as impromptu jamming by some like-minded folk soon evolved into what is now known as The Screaming Room.
This band, consisting of Evan Westre, Jordan Dack and their wives Nicole Westre and Michelle Dack, is a celebration of creativity.
Coming from diverse, musical backgrounds, the members leave no musical stone unturned. For the first 16 weeks of 2011, The Screaming Room wrote and recorded one complete song per week ranging stylistically from folk to spoken word and everything in between.
This group demonstrates that a holistic love of creativity can take us to some fascinating places.
Here is a teaser of amazing father & son duo The Big Mess. The clip includes some of the performance from last Monday & today. They will be back on July 25th at the Charles Hoey Park @ 2pm and they will wrap up with the Summer Festival at the Duncan Garage Showroom. A must see, they put on quite a show!
This year’s festival will see several appearances by local singer Naomi Payan. The Duncan based folk-rock singer made it into the final stage of the Cowichan Folk Guild’s songwriting contest this year and will be performing a number of her latest songs at the festival.
Naomi enjoyed a musical upbringing and went on to perform both in choirs and as a backing vocalist.
In the past five years Naomi began to write and perform her own material at open mic contests in Scotland, France and Canada and hasn’t looked back.
I enjoy lots of different types of music, but some of my favourites are Fiona Apple, Jeff Buckley and Elbow. Naomi Payan
As a full time mom to describe Naomi as busy is an understatement, especially as she is also currently recording new accoustic work with a friend. Read the full post…
